This primer should get you up and going with the MySQL command-line tool in about 10 minutes. Before going through this document you should know:

  1. ...how to use the command line to enter commands
  2. ...your MySQL username and password
  3. ...the name of the MySQL database you want to access
  4. ...the ip address of the database server

This primer has 6 sections:

  1. Intro - This is what you are currently reading.
  2. Logging In - How to start the mysql command-line tool
  3. Viewing - How to create SELECT statements
  4. Inserting - Adding data to the database
  5. Modifying - Changing existing database records
  6. Links - Further information

This primer is designed to teach you the basics of getting information into and out of an existing MySQL database. If you want information on how to set up a database, check the links section.

I guess that's all I have to say right now. Click on the link below to get started.
